I think you make some very valid points. As I mentioned, RRL is a very different beast at $2.00 a share, compared to the highs of past. I would be very angry if they did a buy back... simple as that. Unless.... McPhillamy's was not progress (i.e. NSW Gov just says no).Then RRL would likely have to flog if off for $1. I believe that is unlikely, but.... anything is possible.All capital they have should be thrown 100% into exploration, development of their U/G mines and McPhillamy's.
If they want to show the market they are indeed miners again, and not just happy to mine out their pits and pay a dividend that is unsustainable.
I would be very surprised if RRL buys any asset in the near term. They have more than enough to keep them busy (again, unless something goes horribly wrong with McPhil).
Lots of good discussion ongoing here.McPhillamy's is perhaps going to end up costing $600m to get into production. Not a crazy number, considering as a standalone, once in production, it would be worth around $1b - 1.5b currently. Though of course, it would have been a lot better to have it already in production!
If the SP goes much lower, I will likely be able to justify moving funds from other stocks that have held up far better. RRL whilst frustrating, is I feel, offering a good risk/reward compared to, well.... most producers in the market, and... the sector is cheap overall.
