Yes, I too was confused by the title of POD's Announcement today.
I raised the issue of Announcement "summaries" with the ASX yesterday.
In reply they indicated that the ASX has no interest in the quality
of information submitted by Companies for posting on the ASX web site.
However I understand that they have sanctioning powers over all material submitted
to them by Companies. But it is not clear on their web site which information
is authored by Companies and therefore subject to sanction.
There is no disclaimer on the web page.
It would appear that submitted content is reviewed only after posting and only by
users of the web site. So, no complaint, then no action. It does make you wonder
why there is a 10 minute delay in the forwarding of announcements to HC when no validation is applied.
In this way, using the ASX web page, Companies can misrepresent an announcement or its price sensitivity leading
to imprudent trading action,
to make it impossible for search engines to work,
or foreign language translators to translate,
or impress investors with the communications skills of their investor relations officer and their designated proof reader.
The ASX alone is in a position to ensure that its web site is a quality web site.
Other publishers can do it. So can the ASX.
