I can see a few important invesment gurus saying, "Commodities ARE THE NEW BONDS".
However, with my background in investment with a view to trading off risk, it's too broad a statement.
Say that to the people who have done a huge amount of technical work in the area like Cliff Assness and the propeller heads who work around Markov's Efficient frontier and they'll say it doesn't wash.
I definitely think the outlook for commodities is excellent and I'd short bonds to improve total risk-return profile as well but the statement is like the guy who said Zinc is the new Copper a few years ago. Too broad.
