I have been shopping recently at Myer, DJ's and similar stores in Sydney CBD, Eastgardens and Chatswood. I found Sydney retail scene to be dead. The online discounting at Myer and DJ's is aggressive. I don't think I have ever seen retail this bad.
Chatswood Westfield and Chatswood Chase in particular were dead. It was a ghost town. On a Thursday night no less.
They might still be within their debt covenants but their cash position is disasterous. I hope, for your sake, their inventory levels were reduced in anticipation of this downturn.
