In the past there have been HC posts pointing out this lack of independence.

Announcement after announcement from GCN has contained pompous sounding statements like SIS, GCN's financial adviser, has recommended . . . , or SIS has agreed to arrange listing on the ASX of Pharmasafe/PriorityOne/FirstMongolian, etc..

In the past it has also been pointed out that these announcements could have avoided hiding a potential conflict of interest if they had read Richard Li of SIS has advised Richard Li of GCN. . ., or on behalf of Richard Li of GCN, Richard Li of SIS has agreed to arrange the listing of . . .

Offhand I can't remember whether GCN paid SIS for its services. What I do remember is that SIS was not successful in getting any of the above companies listed on the ASX.
