Sorry, I don't know for sure whether he has invested his own money into it or how much, if he has. What I meant was that he has significant holdings in the company so he still has a vested interest in it not collapsing. However, I suspect he knows it is probably going to collapse and is simply keeping the barbarians away from the gates as long as possible while continuing to collect his generous salary. If he really believed the company had a future and was fighting tooth and nail to keep it afloat, he'd have done the honourable thing and reduced his salary long ago to cut costs.
