"LICENCE FOR GROWING CANNABIS INDOORS GRANTED" and "Last Friday 10th March 2017, approval was granted by NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI), under the Industrial Hemp Act 2008, to allow the Company to grow indoors a selection of its plant varieties at a private location in NSW. This is in addition to a licence under section 5 of the Hemp lndustry Act 2008 to cultivate and supply low-THC Cannabis for commercial production and for manufacturing processing. Technical Director Andrew Kavasilas says, "It is my understanding that MCL is the only company with current exposure to the ASX that has achieved such licences and approvals in Australia."

This announcement is true but everyone needs to decide for themselves if it is misleading. Andrew became one the first farmers legally growing industrial hemp in NSW with the Hemp Industry Act 2008. It's a 5 year license and he grows 12 hectares or so of hemp outside. He has done this for many years. Hemp fibre crops were legalised in NSW in 2008. His company Vitahemp is in the production of high quality hemp seed for human consumption.
The other license from the DPI is to grow hemp inside for the Rosehill Gardens expo. From a previous Expo. " A feature of the Expo was a large climate-controlled tent filled with non-THC hemp plants under High Intensity Discharge lamps, which greeted visitors as they entered the Rosehill Gardens Exhibition Hall. Grown by Andrew Kavasilas from Vitahemp and with the approval of the NSW Department of Primary Industries, the hemp plants were rushed to the Expo from the set of a new Hollywood film currently in production in Australia."

The important license is the Medicinal Cannabis Cultivation Licence through the Office of Drug Control. The Office of Drug Control started accepting applications for cannabis cultivation licences October 2016. People or organisations wanting a licence will need to show they will be supplying either a licensed medicinal cannabis manufacturer or researcher.
