you’re likely right that a new hole could be drilled from the existing pad…. I suspect the issue there may be availability of hardware needed… eg another set of surface kit, casing etc. They’ll be reluctant to rob hardware from the Baobab well, and doubt have enough materials, spares or money on hand to drill a whole new third well. Sidetrack from existing hole considerably cheaper and quicker but has risks reaching a conclusive zone as has been outlined extensively. Obviously a second well from this pad could be done as a follow up under new funding ….. but by then (per the plan at least) the rig would have been moved to Baobab and obviously any synergy of drilling as a follow on from current well is lost.

it’s going to be an interesting and challenging evaluation to chose the best path forward.
