we're coming past what most of us thought would be the delivery date for the labs results, so I did a bit of digging on how Labwest do the technicals and their turnaround times. I'm a scientist with a fair bit of work using WA labs in the past.
what I know is that if they were processing for single test such as lithium alone, the results could have turned around 1-2 weeks quicker in theory, but there's a couple of legitimate reasons as to why results get delayed. I won't do conspiracies on this.
- labs needed to go through calibration of rock type/extraction/analysis method on the new materials
- labs also need to do inter-lab duplication of every tenth test to confirm process is accurate to NATA standard. There can be hang ups here if they went to Eurofins, SGS or ALS on this and often is delays by weeks in my experience.
- some analyses need to be redone with either a different process step or analysis step to confirm a second element concentration (think pegmatitic REE here). We know that Ta is on their radar and is known from nearlology to exist. anything above 0.4% can be extracted when processing lithium
- Staff turnover is common in the WA labs, at least 20% a year. So there's re-training regularly.

We will get the results when they come and the business is serious about being serious. Don't get sucked into conspiracy theorists peddling crap.
