The whole thing does not make sense. This poor claims experience was primarily driven by the Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) and Income Protection products within ClearView’s old LifeSolutions portfolio.
On the other hand, they are saying this experience appears to be at an industry level and points towards economic conditions and affordability issues.
Now let's get this straight. Total and Permanent Disability is usually caused by accident or illness. Why on earth would economic conditions and affordability issues cause this to spike? Clearly there is something else going on here and it is going to come out in the wash.
