G'day jawburns, It's amazing how many trucks and couriers are driving around out bush in WA in the most random of places. Whilst true remote might be a weekly run of 200km or more (and time is really the measure of distance, not km, on a bad track) to a road or intersection, labs do have samples coming from minesites all the time so they just make a short detour and pick them up or the fieldies drive 50km to meet them. In this instance, Raiden is not remote. When I used to work about 80km out of Karratha we would bring them back at the completion of every hole (1 or 2 per day) and when at Fortnum whilst it was closed (on care and maintenance) would drive the ~170km to Meekatharra every 3rd day to get the samples to the freight depot and onto the lab. Laboratories like a steady constant submission stream of samples in smaller batches, ie not 1,000 samples in 1 go. As they have to pull them out, sort them, look for missing samples etc as a first step. Not all sample bags have barcodes and many have to be cleaned of mud/dirt.
