I've been in your position many times. There was even a video on algorithmic trading by bots that was quickly taken down—it showed years of evidence across multiple ASX companies of market manipulation. The ASX allows it because, as you said, corruption runs deep, and people are getting kickbacks.
I thought investing in property would be a better option, but it comes with its own problems. A bad real estate agent can take advantage of you, and trades who claim to do quality work often cut corners while getting paid by real estate agencies that don’t bother to check.
At this point, there's nothing you or I can do to fight it. I’ve reached the stage where I’ve had to accept that corruption is just a part of the world we live in.
