Yes - you make a good point.
Most voters act on the last thing they heard. Voters are not, collectively, that bright. Afterall, we can see plenty of instances when the logical choice was completely ignored and the wrong person gets elected even if the choice ends up being intellectually unfathomable.
We can just look at the last federal election in the US to see what damage stupid voters are capable of.
