As some one who had held positions at times in all 3 stocks mentioned in the article namely GSW, QIN and RFG and was able to quit those positions in time and with reasonable profits I will add that an investor (or trader if you like) needs to have a reasonable balance of fear and greed. Don't fall victim to endowment effect, falling in love with a stock merely because you own it. I squirm when I read posters mentioning things like they have faith in a company. Jesus! faith in a speccy. It will be a very low percentages game to make money from faith in speccies. Spread out your positions, trade them when you can to build your pool of reserves and get out when things get too hot for comfort.
Not saying all this to gloat in my ability to dodge bullets. There is a fair bit of luck mixed with fear that saved me. I well realise that no soldier has ever grown old dodging bullets and that there is a lot to learn.
