I will be very interested to hear how you go with that. I am (ever so slowly) writing my own programs for backtesting mechanical trend trading ideas. My plan is to start with the "original TT rules" and move on from there. I'm thinking of running it against the ASX200 equities as a starting point (partially because I can get the historical easily).
