You do look for SP as one metric however the SP isn't a true representation of a company as some companies have massive valuations and are burning hundreds of millions of dollars, take pelaton, uber etc but these are based on future growth getting to that valuation.

Other companies may have the SP supressed for whatever reason and may present an opportunity to purchase for a discount on the company.

You can inflate a SP quite easily by providing a divided to SHer so if there was 10s of millions in the bank be easy to just provide a 1c dividend which would bring value to SHers and if they did that each year then it is unlikely the SP would be where it is now as after 2.5 years the SH would of recouped all their capital and have profit regardless of SP. Instead they are looking to divest this which means 98% of the revenue or the revenue of 10s millions will disappear so the dividend part has disappeared if divested.
