Only 6% of orders now come from Australia.
If buyers are buying multiple small items which total over $1000 they can split the order up into smaller orders under $1000 and custom duties are not added to the order. I just tried creating an order and that is the case.
You can’t tell me that the overwhelming majority of buyers wouldn’t break up their orders to save on duties. My wife certainly would.
The number of orders like AFR would be tiny and they know it.
Well played to the AFR they managed to scare a lot of mum and dad holders and sell a few more clicks on their website.
