The author missed the most obvious point that there are tax intermediaries which most marketplace companies use to pay sales tax in the jurisdictions they operate in - look up Avalara or taxjar. This means they don’t need a subsidiary in the state. The problem is he doesn’t know what he doesn’t know, and assumes fraud. He didn’t even mention tax intermediaries in his post which means he doesn’t understand.
the reviews for cettire are the exact same as farfetch - all of the negative comments were along the same topics. And we are talking a handful of negative reviews from millions of orders. Both of the comments on each companies page are similar - mostly with out of stock merchandise and issues with customer support. I counted 1 review mentioning a customs issue over 5 pages of reviews.
This is the exact same hysteria that happened with Afterpay. Lots of Sherlock’s throwing sh!t at the wall and hoping something sticks.
