Even if you assume that the current pressure on casino revenues that recently led Crown to cut 1000 jobs is temporary – that international tourist numbers come back, cost-of-living pressures fade over time, and that any residual reputational clouds hanging over the sector eventually fade – there is a real question as to the level of profitability an operator can extract from a casino run with the regulatory, compliance and responsible gambling standards that the NICC expects.
