South Korea is a US vassal state. It still relies on USA to keep North Korea in check. It sent arterillery shells to Ukraine. It has to pretend its friends to the Japanese even though it was occupied in WW2 and other atrocities commited to them.
South Korea is as good as any other US ally taking over Austal. It has good industrial base and competency and is a lot better than UK whose last warship failed to launch.

Austral/Hanwha and US should build the subs. UK has no real ability anymore it's the senile old mother to US and Australia. Hanwha also should have cheaper labour than UK personnel.
