When the share price was low and the board reinstate the DRP, it is a good way to conserve cash and reward loyal shareholders.
When the share price is over inflated, DRP would hand out less shares for the same cash. Those who know the business well can select to either get the divvy in cash or not.

So, basically, it's an opt-out situation for you, where - as a shareholder - you need to actively elect when you don't want to get shares instead of cash?
How would you feel if your stockbroker said - unless you advise otherwise - all of your dividends are simply going to buy more shares in the respective companies declaring them, unless you advise otherwise?
Point is, surely you don't buy all your other shares on a default basis on receipt of dividends.
So why is MND somehow any different?
