Short answer: It's his job to write and draw an audience to the AFR for subscription and advertising $$.
But given his history with Motley Fool I feel it's too easy to believe that he knew exactly what he was doing and has much more at stake than his paycheck.
As for the others that promptly joined the discussions here, that could all be very well coordinated or just the nature of the market and forums. They may have just appeared like a shiver of sharks will sniff out the blood of harpooned whale. Maybe some even have no interest in anything other than scanning the market for falling stocks and expressing their concern for naïve investors/traders who could get themselves caught the wrong side of a trade? And then you do have brand new accounts like "cyu291" (goodbye $2.91?) who's first post was used to circulate the AFR article on hotcopper. A bit sus maybe?
And wanting to take a position lower...Yeah, if shorting, that IS the aim of the trade. And while down there you'd be silly not to pick up a few more for the ride back up, right?I note he clearly knows how to search the Aus Patent correspondence so I think it'd be fair to assume he also knows how to search the US Patent correspondence and is up to speed with the progress there also.
