Betr needs PointsBet more than PointsBet needs Betr, the article being published in the Australian (given it's owned by Newscorp), would have not helped Betr's bid and could potentially have annoyed PointsBet, i think.
Certainly don't see how it could have helped negotiation in anyway. After fumbling the WA betting license, that saw Betr walk away with nothing, wouldn't be surprising to me if their rate of sucess remains consistent.
