Chris Ellison is the chairman and majority shareholder at Mineral Resources. He has had a successful career in the resources sector. In 1979 he founded Karratha Rigging, which was acquired by Walter Wright Industries in 1982. He then established Genco in 1986, which merged with the Monadelphous Group in 1988. Five years later, he started Mineral Resources with Bob Gavranich. Mineral Resources (MIN) was listed on the ASX in 2006. An investor expressed concern when Ellison bought MIN shares two days after the $300 million sale of two ore-processing facilities to Fortescue Metals Group, but several days before an official announcement clarifying the matter. It did not breach any law. Mineral Resources’ revenue for the year ended June 2013 rose from $925 million to $1.1 billion.
