Possibility of this sort of spike (or bigger) has been the only thing tempting me to buy pending news of a decent achievable strategy. I like my speccies to be on an upward trajectory, so not game.
RFX is now a tempting play for traders. There appear to be many believers waiting for a bit of hope to jump in and buy. Just the sniff of a good news will tempt many to jump in. I am sure that happening today, just on the hope of a leaky ship with the price ticking up.
A trader buying from and selling to himself, can create their own volume and their real cost as the price climbs can be negligible. Shares accumulated in the initial buying spree are dumped later in the day as the believers jump in with the trader making a very tidy profit, thank you very much.
Just speculating, but that is what I think happened today.
