It will be interesting to see what Telstra and TPG do.
The resiliency project (phase 1) is all about extending backup battery life at a number of sites to >12hrs.
If they choose lead acid, they will be committing to a greater lifecycle burden of maintaining those batteries into the future.
If they choose lithium, they will have similar issues - including air conditioning requirements.
Only Redflow batteries (as far as I know - ?) would offer the resiliency required on very hot days during bush fires.
