A while ago RenewEconomy interviewed a Telstra exec with responsibility for their overall energy use, including phone towers. The discussion covered replacement of existing lead-acid batteries. One of the interviwers (David Leitch) mentioned "flow batteries" (presumably referring to Redflow), the other interviewer (Giles Parkinson) said "I assume you're looking at lithium". The Telstra exec didn't confirm or deny this.
