Australia will soon be producing a substantial proportion of the World's Li2O. Imagine for a moment if the Government had a flash of inspiration and decided to make Australia a major producer of Li Batteries. Pligangorra could be the Hub of Li2O production. Lithium carbonate factories could be built nearby to absorb the Li2O production and the LIC along with all the other ores, Ni, Mn, Co, etc sourced in Australia and could sent to a Li Battery Production factory on the nearby coast. Australia has all the natural resources to produce them and the technological knowhow we can buy in. The Government could provide cheap money, tax free periods. employment incentives, etc available for the new industry to establish itself. Three years and it could be done and Australia would be a major supplier of Li batteries to the world. The economic benefits would be simply outstanding and make Australia an even greater nation.
BUT the Government does not see it that way and is content to let the best go.
Sorry for the rant BUT we need politicians that spot opportunities and provide the resources to make it happen. Unlikely I'm afraid.

Well you are right. Even Chilean government is trying to do this Li Battery thing. It bewilders me to imaging OZ not doing it.
