Although BioTech, these things do happen to small cap ASX companies.

And if this happened to AJM, it would place the takeover at approximately one dollar ($1) per share, or a little more.

However, knowing Optimum Nano, I'm expecting they are pitching an initial bid at 55 cents, which would be an insult to AJM shareholders and directors/management, and not honourable, and something the Chinese would see (if they were in the same position as AJM) as akin to "losing face".

If the AJM board have learned anything in their time about Chinese history and culture, and the art of war (in Chinese business), then they will be circumspect and cunning, and refuse this offer in the most gracious and respectful way - like smiling assassins. Then they should read Lao Tzu's book "The Art of War", which is required reading for EVERY Chinese student in business school, and they'll realise where these guys are coming from.

The art of war is a game of move and counter-move, like Chess, with the ultimate goal of defeating the enemy by stealth, without losing one of your own soldiers. This requires immense cunning, planning, infiltration into the enemy's camp without them knowing, and left-field maneuvers and deceptions. (Says someone who studied Chinese history and culture and language for 4 years at Uni during a first degree back in the 70s).
