Well, I can't get a hold of what Ms Cook actually said, but whoever wrote that article is an absolute moron, and certainly got the numbers all mixed up.

    Two examples:
1: "Between 2025 and 2035, lithium production across Africa is projected to increase by a staggering 127 percent, driven by new mines in Zimbabwe, Mali, Ethiopia and Namibia. Cook highlighted that against that backdrop Africa’s share of global lithium supply will surge from a small fraction today to around 80 percent by 2030"

In order for the supply to grow by 127%, to get to 80% of global supply, it must start at 35.3%. (35.3 x 1.27 + 35.3= 80).
So, that means Africa's share of global lithium supply will surge from a small fraction today - 35.3% ??? small fraction?

2: But this tops the cake: "This potential dominance could come with price advantages too. African lithium projects often have lower upfront costs compared to Australia because of their lower grades "

Ahh! Lower grade is cheaper. That is an advantage???
