True. But not sure if this is from shallow or deep bores, and how reliable and sustainable it is. I seem to remember reading some time ago that NSW was considering limiting groundwater licences (and usage?), but this might not affect the Lachlan. One advantage of this region is that there doesn't seem to be a salinity problem with sub-surface water.

Notwithstanding, Hillston is, imo, an unnecessary distance from the processing plant. It also seems to have issues with frost, a propensity for unseasonal rain events, and is sub-scale.

If they really want to continue and expand in that area, the Tabbita farm currently for sale might be a possible option. It isn't much closer, but the Griffith district has a marginally more temperate climate than Hillston (although a considerably higher average annual rainfall than the Southern or Central regions inhabited by SHV).
