The ground water in that region is reliable and reasonable quality. The area around Mooral (including Mooral) has very sodic soils that require regular flushing to keep the salt down. Many abandoned cotton farms (eg Twynam). I’m glad SHV didn’t buy it. I also wonder if the slight yield penalty would have been worth having east-west orientated rows in Griffith and Hillston - much better for risk mitigation around harvest. Perhaps plant 30-50% east-west.
