Of course over my 50 years in the game, in my view investment success comes not in making money when times are good. That part is fairly easy. It comes from making money when times are bad, and then not losing it through either cycle.

We are approaching the end of the longest bull market in history. Warren Buffett concedes he has failed to capture the duration of this market. Maybe you can get his number and give him some advice.

By the way, do you do your calcs after tax? That's the way all funds report.

ASX:ALF was a mistake on my part, Listened to my brother who bought ALF @1.00 (and he did well early on).

You have to be careful about the percentage return "Performance" figure spruiked by Super Funds and LICs.

For example If I simply write off my ALF investment (ie sell this loser for $0.00)... My TSR rises from 14.61% to 15.08%.

OH WHAT a CLEVER Superanuation MANAGER or LIC CEO I would be.
