There are probably plenty of strategic reasons IMEC want to keep 4DS happy. They are also involved with Weebit and Intrinsic so they are keeping an eye on the RRAM developers. Worth remembering also, that IMEC are partnered with Global Foundaries producing their own AI chip at 22nm but it is using SRAM which is expensive, harder to scale and digital.
