Expanding on this, if retention is as tuneable as they think, they may have the opinion of that a maximum figure isnt really achieveable, in that, they may not know the exact tweaks they need to make in order to get the longest retention of data.
they may shoot themselves in the foot if they were to release a speculated figure that is +/- what the actual figure is, if that makes sense. They may have not been able to quantify the upper limit of retention yet
