Fern gulley was an environmental theme and also had a fairy but was not a Disney production. That was early 90's and had a budget of 22mil and made 32mil box office. (Probably not a great success by some of today's numbers).
A quick look at recent 2013-2014 releases and most feature animations have a budget of $20mil minimum to well over $100mil. Some seem to be extremely successful, others do ok and a few are failures. If someone wants to take on Yowie then that's great but as mentioned here before if the movie sucks then that could be negative on our core sales. What kind on feature would it be? A cheaper cartoon or modern 3D animation? USA does not know yowie yet.
Eg. +
Frozen 2013 budget $150 mil, gross 1.3 bil
Dispicable Me 2 budget 76 mil, gross 970mil
Ice Age 4 budget 100, gross 877
Toy Story 3 200 mil to 1.1 bil
Eg. -
Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart (2014) Budget 34mil, gross 3.4mil
