Tempers boiled over in the lead up to the vote.
Mr Warburton called out from the audience “you’re a rude bastard” after Mr Smyth-Kirk disputed a comment from the challenger. Mr Smyth-Kirk said previous comments from Mr Warburton implied “to normal business people” that there would be a quick payback.
Mr Smyth-Kirk then said: “I have seen the comments that you made about me in your statement to shareholders and they are insulting and disgusting and defamatory and you will hear from my solicitors.”
