Truth. I'd caution even flushing your toilet with the water from the Mekong. Growing with it would just seem like an ignorant thing to do.
Having said that, South East Asian rainfall and capture of this water could come in handy, if the money can be spent on a few decent rain tanks.
I wouldn't be so sure about organic certification either. Do some research and you'll see it's not too hard to come by
