Absolutely terrible, however I think you've got the wrong casino - it's the "Grand Diamond City" casino which is closer to the border crossing and I think one of the older casinos on the strip. The distinctive white building a walk bridge in this video below point firmly to that property. Star Vegas thankfully is well away from that part of the strip, but it is in quite a build up area so I'm not surprised it was such a tragedy. This will surely have a big impact on visitor number to the strip for a while and could cause the government to act in negative ways for the strip.
