I thought about time scales after the discussion with the captain about what terms of reference to use when deploying the word "imminent". Upon a little research I found that the word is certainly not used in any accepted geologic time scale (the shortest period being a "Stage" or "Age" that is measured in thousands to single digit millions of years). Yes you could use the word in the context of a geologic event like an earthquake (the seismograph is indicating an imminent earthquake) but that's very much human scale timeframes.
So the conclusion I arrived at was HMD was definitely using human terms when indicating the time horizon for our company making, earth shaking event! And they were wrong!
It's heartening to see the pace with which they are spreading. What would be great to know now is how fast the platform is being taken up by individuals within the systems that they have landed into.
