if you are holding a loss - it's a loss - it doesn't matter if you sell or not - it's still a loss
you need to assess the opportunities to make a profit - is SPX better than other opportunities? if so then hold SPX and stop complaining -
if not and there's better opportunities out there on the market then sell SPX and buy into a better opportunity - why sit around composing ?
