Yeah you're right, each situation is different, it can be quite complicated
Similar to your Bellamy's example, the merger between SAR and NST had similar consequences for SAR holders, as the CG was realised on the scheme implementation date. Unless holders were eligible for the script for script roll-over (another complication) which meant the CG wasn't realised yet
I think generally speaking the date the CG becomes a taxable event is the day the shares leave the share registry, as that's the day they are officially disposed of? But I agree, if the ATO have the tax determination out for said company it becomes clearer. I can still see my MOC shares in Link so they could well be disposed of on the Scheme Implementation date yet
