I haven't seen anyone crying, in fact what I noticed was people rubbing their hands together in glee at the share price depreciation both current and expected in the short term given recent developments. That clearly shows they have a long term interest in the company as they are taking advantage of Fidelity's selling to accumulate more for that long term which term you have mentioned.

People are fallible and SW has obviously made some extremely poor decisions IMO, others are right to call him out on those. Let's hope that if he can keep a grip on his position here at BSX somehow, and there are no investigations into anyone's trading activities influenced by any inside information leaks regarding MOU's etc that he has learnt some valuable lessons. You are right, he has worked very hard and axhieved great things for BSX, external events and the macro environment, all out of his control, are doing him no favours at the moment and they need to be managed effectively.
