Gillette Children’s Hospital in Minnesota is one of just 18 clinics in the U.S. designated as a Clinical Research Centre of Excellence by the International Rett Syndrome Foundation.  Gillette Children’s Hospital is known worldwide for its expertise in care for children diagnosed with rare diseases and was one of the LAVENDER study locations .

In an online article last month titled Rare Disease Breakthroughs in Treatments, Medications, and Therapies, the co-director of the centre, Arthut Beisang, MD, speaks  about the possibility of trofinetide being soon approved as the first treatment for Rett syndrome.

Trofinetide helps increase the connections between the neurons and makes the nerves more robust…that will translate into improving the coordination and speaking skills of Rett patients. We’re very excited.

Prader-Willi is one of the other rare diseases of focus at Gillette so the centre may well participate in the NNZ-2591 PW trial as well.
