"basic error" I think not.
28,500 employees have had 13 years to detect an error in their leave entitlements, and point it out..... and have not done so.
I have always checked my payslips.
I think that it was a subtle error in the wording of entitlements and their application in certain circumstances that no one was aware of - when BHP became aware of it, it announced it and is proceeding to fix it.
Full marks to BHP IMO for being a responsible employer.
