Accurate analysis.
True story, my father-in-law is looking at expanding production of his company to SEA and Malaysia was #1 on the list for warehouse and factory setup. I forwarded him this BS and he's put any plans on halt off the back of it and is watching to see how it now eventuates. He deals in waste management and is now looking at Singapore (least sovereign risk / higher cost) or further afield to Thailand (arguably now better sovereign risk / lower cost) instead.
So there is a first hand example of how this is already potentially going to affect Malay jobs and prosperity.
Malaysia needs to prove to the world it won't go back on its word when it signs contracts with private enterprise and actually honours international inspection agency / standards over local special interest groups with dubious motives and opaque financing structures.
Its been widely accepted contracts in Malaysia are not worth the paper it is written on.
Already they have reniged on contracts from China.
Now the whole world is watching the treatment a world class LAMP is getting.
I wonder who will be stupid enough to invest in Malaysia.
