People ask me to comment on stuff like this all the time, which is what led me here, although I'd never heard of SPQ previously.
Resource estimation is a specialised business and it's all about reducing risk. Ya needs someone who does it regularly and knows how to interpret the drill data in a manner that honours both the geology and the data. Ya can't have one without the other.
Mr Beams is one of my go to's of choice if I was running a project from a distance and needed a team on the ground in Qld. I've reviewed a couple of estimates done by his associates and have not been supportive. His team are exploration geos, not Resource geos.
Hwang seems to have a corporate background, not a great deal of geology there.
I don't know Harvey, but the fact that he's used IDW as a primary estimation technique in the absence of coherent data analysis suggests that he don't do estimation for a living. Probably a competent exploration geo. He was tied up with CTO for a while, which may or may not have been a happy experience.
This seems to be case of people not knowing current practise and its implications. People are proud of their abilities an mat not be looking toward specialists to cover technical stuff for them. Part of this is being open minded enough to accept the results, whether in line with expectations or not. If not, then the process exposes the shortfalls, which can be ameliorated through further work.
I don't have a problem with the project. Looks fine to me but without a Resource that's defensible, the inevitable result is that the Scoping Study results are premised on erroneous assumptions. And this is something I do for a living.
Straight as a die is an expression that I use. When cutting precision threads in metal, you need a straight die and straight stock. I use a lathe where I can.
