While the increased bid is one thing, the blocking stake makes it incredibly hard for Macquarie, First State or any other latecomer to spoil Uniti's party.

Of course in normal course of business, the alternative could be to wait until Uniti gobbles up OptiComm and then make a play for the enlarged group. However, the financial types do worry about how quickly Uniti has come together, and the integration work that needs to be done at some stage.
