Are you familiar with the time value of money? Or the risk free rate?
There is no way I would invest $2.95 now for a return of $3 in... when exactly? 4-6 months? You can literally get a 5% return in a bank account, or a 6+% return if you have a mortgage or an offset account.
This is the reason the share price is hovering around $2.85. It's already pricing this in.
If nothing else changes, all that will happen over the next 4-6 months is that the price will very slowly creep up to $3 once there is more certainty as to when the date will be executed. The current share price will purely be $3 discounted by the risk free rate, subject to minor arbitrage variations.
