Reasons to sell:
- $6.6 bil is a lot of money. $3.00 is 80c (or $1.7bil) above the initial offer price.
- There is considerable execution risk that can be taken off the table.
- Market risk.
- The BOD and major shareholders are not young anymore.
Reasons to go mining:
- There is upside to capital return for shareholders if the project is executed well.
- The BOD believes they can execute this project well.
- Long term outlook for lithium is strong.
If shareholders get only $3 for LTR, this is still a fantastic return. Anyone who criticises the BOD for this anouncement, needs to consider what it would be like to be one if them. I know the BOD would have deliberated very hard over this. At the end of the day it is in the hands of shareholders, but realistically it will be decided by TG. He will have my support whichever way it goes.
We are just 1 day into the anouncement. LTR has signalled to the market it is in play. Hopefully we awaken some of the mining majors now we have a reserve price. Fingers crossed.
